Welcome to Lowcountry living in Island West, located in Beaufort County in southernmost South Carolina on the mainland from the popular resort area of Hilton Head Island.
In Island West you will find what may be referred to as a “boutique community” meaning small yet sophisticated and well presented. Island West prides itself as being multi-generational and diverse with amenities that rival and, in some cases, surpass its larger neighboring managed communities. Island West is comprised of 260 lots, 258 of which have been fully developed.
Our first class, well-maintained amenities available only to residents include a junior Olympic-sized swimming pool with lanes for lap and competition and an ample lounging deck with tables and chairs, two full sized tennis courts, a regulation basketball game court, a children’s ADA approved play area (currently being up-dated), a fully equipped fitness center with up-to-date well maintained equipment and showers within a beautiful 4,000 square foot community clubhouse. The “Palm House” has a well-stocked lending library and a comfortably furnished meeting room complete with a full kitchen, large screen TV with cable and WiFi which can be reserved by appointment for private parties, receptions and game nights. Island West also has a very active social committee with events and activities for all ages. The yearly assessments are kept reasonable and the community is managed by professionals guided by an active homeowner’s association.
The charming southern city of Savannah, Georgia rich in history, charm and modern shopping venues is only minutes away. The number one American tourist destination city of beautiful Charleston South Carolina is only ninety minutes to the north. Both cities have first class easily accessible international airports.
One of the top ten beaches found in the United States is only a short twenty-five-minute drive to the east along with fresh seafood and entertainment. Orlando, Florida, with all its world class attractions, is a four-and-a-half-hour drive to the south.
Winters are mild with January, the coldest seeing an average of eight rain days with the average high of 60 degrees and the average low of 40. On a very rare occasion you might see a slight shower of snowflakes to remind you of the cold climate you might have left behind. August, the warmest, sees an average high of 88 and the average low of 73 with 10 days of rain in the form of afternoon showers followed by warm evenings for outdoor entertainment.
Wildlife is abundant in the lagoons, wooded areas and wetlands within the community with deer, fish, colorful song birds, larger tropical waterfowl and many native creatures that live and share their habitat with the residents.
It’s so easy to see why so many have fallen in love with the Lowcounty and why they chose the ‘gated community’ of Island West to reside.
